Wiesner, D. (2001). The Three Pigs. Clarion Books.
About the Book
This is not your average story of the three pigs. In this book, the three pigs try to escape the wolf and in their efforts, they go into other stories where they meet other characters like the cat and the fiddle, the cow that jumped over the moon, and a dragon.
David Weisner does an excellent job making the text correlate with the illustrations in the story. The story line is more complex than your traditional three little pigs storyline, but following the illustrations help the reader understand what's going on. They readers will enjoy the humorous tone the author uses to take us on the thrill of escaping the wolf right along with the three pigs. Another thing that makes this book funny and refreshing to read is the dialogue bubbles that appear as the pigs discuss their plan along the story.
