It's So Amazing!: A Book about Eggs, Sperm, Birth, Babies, and Families

Bibliographic Citation

Harris, R. H., & Emberley, M. (1999). It’s So Amazing! : A Book about Eggs, Sperm, Birth, Babies, and Families (The Family Library) (Illustrated ed.). Candlewick.

About the Book

This book is a great tool to inform school age children about topics such as love, sex, gender, families, heterosexuality, homosexuality, sexual abuse, sexually transmitted diseases, and the internet. All of those concerns are addressed in a comic way by a bird and a bee while still giving children a good understanding of questions as complex as “So how do babies really begin?”

Author Robie H. Harris and illustrator Michael Emberley collaborate in this book to address a world wide audience about what some find to be uncomfortable topics to discuss with children. The information and illustrations found in the book are age appropriate, honest, and accurate. They explain complicated facts about science and the human body without being condescending to children.
