Infographics

Infographics are visual representations of information. You can include color, pictures, illustrations, maps, charts, graphs and much more to convey data, information, knowledge and ideas in a clear and engaging way. These are great for educators to create to improve comprehension of complex topics. Infographics can even be created by students to showcase their comprehension of content. There are many tools that can be used to create these visuals. Below, you will find some information on some infographic tools I recently tried.

Easel.ly is a tool used to create and share ideas using infographics that are visually appealing. Not much experience is needed to create a beautiful and informative visual using this tool. It has predesigned templates you can choose from as well as the option to create one yourself with an empty template. However there are limits to the graphics, backgrounds, and charts available unless you purchase an upgrade. The pricing ranges from $2 per month for standard settings to $5 per month for all features.

Piktochart is simple and easy to use. Very little experience is needed to create stunning and professional looking infographics. There are a wide variety of templates available for free! The templates are editable and any visuals you choose to substitute are easy to manipulate. You can add sections to your design and adjust their size. It provides a wide variety of illustrations and visuals to choose from as well as the ability to upload your own images. Overall, I thought this was an excellent tool to begin with especially because infographics are visual representations of information and Piktochart provides a wide variety of options without having to upgrade.

Infogram provides a decent amount of infographic templates and the ability to create using a blank template. It is a very well organized and professional looking tool. It provides a good variety of visuals and images without upgrading, but if you find yourself having to upgrade, you would need to pay a starting rate of $19 dollars per month for the Pro version. I have little to no experience creating infographics and although the dashboard looks great, all the options and available tools were a little overwhelming. This is definitely a website that someone with more experience is likely to enjoy using.

I chose to create an infographic using Piktochart. I created it to represent a recent study on who doesn’t read books in America.

This was a great representation of an infographic. I was surprised by the age and community type results. I would expect older people and rural areas to be more likely to read.

I really like the design of your blog overall. It is easy find posts and is visually appealing. I had a similar assessment of the sites for creating infographics.
